I’ve had an issue with this for a LONG time. I don’t think we are. I think that at a certain age, we choose to sin. If we are born sinners, with no choice, then how are we supposed to feel regret and remorse?
Does being born a sinner mean that we have no choice except to be depraved? Isn’t the crux of the matter, the AWFUL truth of it all, is that we CHOSE to sin and nail Jesus to the cross?
I’ve also seen parents take this too far and claim that their baby cries because of it’s sin nature, and then choosing to let the baby cry because it’s “spoiled.” The baby really is a sinner at birth? Obviously it’s too little to “choose” sin, so if it’s actually out of our control, no other choice but to sin….how is this even a fair fight?
Again, I’ve been taught that we are sinners from birth. I believe that we have a choice. I’ve seen scripture to back both up. What is the truth???
This is my faith hurdle. —Christa
