I am having a baby later this year and have been hearing more from the “crunchy” side of the birthing community which generally doesn’t accept circumcision as a good idea. For much of society, circumcision seems expected.
I’ve read some articles that seem alarmist and ridiculous, but want to check to make sure that’s not just my small worldview talking.
I know that New Testament passages say not to make this a requirement for Gentiles, so that’s not my issue.
Does God’s emphasis on setting apart Israelite men via circumcision have any normative standards for us? Is it a health thing, a sexual thing, a spiritual indicator (for Gentiles), or some other thing? For Gentiles, is circumcision important to God?
This is my faith hurdle. –WonderingMommy
