I grew up always hearing that I shouldn’t give homeless people any money because “they’ll probably just spend it on drugs and alcohol.” However, my heart cannot help but hurt whenever I walk past a beggar on the street and don’t give them any food or money. Jesus once said that every time we ignore someone in need, we ignore him also. How should Christians help those in need in our everyday lives? Sould we give them money, at the risk that they might spend it on drugs and alcohol? This is my faith hurdle. — Perry

The Sandy Hook shootings brought about some questions for me about salvation. I have recently been wondering what happens to children who die and have never heard of Jesus. Also, not just children, but others around the world who never have the chance to know Jesus because they simply haven’t been taught. Does God condemn them to hell for their ignorance, something that is not their fault? This is my faith hurdle. —Anonymous

All my life I had this belief that God would always help me and I would be a successful person. I did well in school, avoided drugs/alcohol/partying, went to college, then law. I honestly had no idea what else to do after college, even though I prayed over and over again for a sign or some sort of idea. I ended up working in retail and, almost 10 months after graduating law school, still am. My friends who often mock God or don’t believe in him have jobs, successful, independant lives, while I’m stuck living with my parents with crushing ...

A Jehovah’s Witness has been coming by quite a bit. The first time she came I was tempted to just tell her that I wasn’t interested, but I wanted to reach out to her and speak to her in the way that Jesus did with the Sadducees. The problem is, I find myself going around and around. I asked her to explain Isaiah 9:6. I wanted to get her to think about the fact that even her bible (which is highly corrupt) teaches that Jesus is God. Of course, she showed me that it only says “mighty God” and not ...

I grew up in a verbally and physically abusive environment, and my parents have made it very clear (even in my adult years) that they want nothing to do with me. I’ve learned to cope with this upbringing, but still carry the scars everywhere I go. It’s especially painful when I go to church, or hang out with my Christian friends. Yes, it’s a very nurturing, loving environment, but most people I know seem to have had great families, and can claim their father/mother as their best friend. I feel so jealous, and yes, even angry at times. I guess ...

I have battled sexual immorality and lust for years. This includes pornography and masturbation. When I was younger I thought nothing was wrong with it, though I knew to society it was taboo. Now that I understand how spiritually hindering and hurtful to God it is, I find it harder to stay away from it. I have had experience going without porn once before, and it felt so good to see that desire subside, but I find myself going back to the computer late at night. I ask for forgiveness only to return to it once again. I know the ...

We also both firmly believe in Jesus Christ. I believe I hold more responsibility as the man in this, but I am unsure what to do. Before losing my virginity to my girlfriend, I promised I would one day marry her, and, because of that promise, I felt convicted that if I caused us to break up, I should die. Now, my girlfriend is not happy with me and says I scold and dominate. She wants to break up, even ...
