Hey C.J.

Thank you for sharing this idea. I agree that a caretaker is such a big step to take and an important one.

We do have a wonderful caretaker, have had her for six months now. She is invested in Finn's life and whenever she takes him, we use that time to run Soulation and make places like RubySlippers possible. :) In fact it was her help that made this post even possible!

Thanks for sharing this important idea... I hope others will read it, too.
Merry Christmas!!

I know you're not looking for advice but as I've read your story and thought about the way you are co-parenting, I tried to think of people I know who might be sharing a similar journey.

Someone who came to mind is a cousin of mine, Rachelle, she has become a very successful artist and her husband works as an engineer. The husband is out at work in the day so Rachelle hires a nanny for an afternoon or chunk of the day so that she can do her art work with the focus she needs. Her studio is in her home, so it gives her comfort to know she's around and can hear her 2 kids bopping around in the house. But she's also able to let go of that role awhile to do her artwork.

I was so impressed with her because I think hiring a nanny can really be a hard one for mom's. A way to feel not good enough, that you should be able to balance it all. When it is just too much. I really respect that they made that choice as a family and support her thriving career.

Again - not advice giving, I have no idea what works, and imagine it's unique to each family - but they came to mind when I thought about the last few posts from you. :)

Excellent post, Jonalyn. I love your honesty. Isn't it a relief to know that God's mercy is extended to us? That He loves us regardless of our resentments and anger-He meets us where we are, and extends grace. That always makes it more possible for me to extend it to others. His mercies are new every single morning.

I feel I am actually not at all cut out for multi-tasking. But motherhood has demanded this of me and so as a matter of course, I learned to multi-task. It did not seem natural at first, and even now it is one of the main reasons I'll get overwhelmed by my children and my home -- I feel pulled too many directions, wishing life fit better into my categories. My husband is naturally more servant-hearted and actually much better at multi-tasking. And that's what he brings to the table as a father while I bring who I am as a mother, and grace abounds. Thanks for this post. It was beautiful. I am a friend of Savannah's. I visit your blog from time to time.
